My creation of blueberry lemon pie!
Life is in full swing this year. I feel like everything I avoided last year is suddenly coming crashing down on me now. It’s overwhelming, but instead of partaking in destructive behavior like old Shelby would, I am just trying to deal with everything the best I can. I am not trying to avoid things anymore or compartmentalize them either; when I did they would come out in loud and toxic ways! They’d mostly only be damaging to me, but I hurt a few people along the way and I hated that about myself; so I changed.
What are your favorite ways to deal with stress?
These are mine:
* NAPS are LIFE.
* Meditating helps!
* Having a 2 minute long scream sesh where I just yell into the sky!
* Talking it out with my bestie or my therapist!
* Putting on my big girl panties and handling it!
I used to eat copious amounts of food when I was stressed, get super drunk, or go and do something wreckless! Adrenalin was a specific kind of high.
Now I deal with them like a regular adult, I feel so accomplished when I look back at my progress in this light. Comparisons are sometimes necessary when you’re comparing you to you!
If you need new ways of coping, look into reaching out to someone you trust or a professional! They usually have insight in your destructive behavior that you can’t see, even with the best magnifying glass. Insight can save your life!
