What would YOU want to know?
I recently asked a question to everyone on my social media outlets, I said, “What’s one thing you wish someone would have told you in your twenties that you know now?”
Well, technically I am still in my twenties.. but late twenties! (28 to be exact!)
Here’s a small list of what I wish I would have been told:
- If you can’t make yourself happy, you can’t make a partner happy and vice-versa
- People are going to judge you, copy you, mock you, be jealous of you and joke on you, always. People are designed that way. It doesn’t do us any good to waste any of our focus paying it any attention!
- Reaching out for help isn’t a sign of weakness it’s a sign of strength!
- Your health is GOLD. Treat yourself right!
- You are beautiful, smart, kind and courageous and can do hard things. Believe that.
There are many, many more things I could put. Life is a series of lessons, hard learned or naturally, they all come calling when it’s our time.
I learned many things the hard way because I closed myself off from the world.
I let the darkness in and then didn’t let it out for several years.
I was struggling with anxiety and depression for such a long time, undiagnosed. I briefly let my circumstances win until I was strong enough to fight for and advocate for myself!
There’s so much I wish someone would have told me when I was younger, not that I would have believed them back then, but I think it would have resonated with me now, as an adult!
I wish that anyone would have told me that life is ALWAYS going to be a challenge.
Or that life will never be easy and what isn’t worth fighting for isn’t worth stressing over.
How about if you feel that life is beating you up, it probably IS but what are YOU doing about it?
Circumstances will almost never be in your favor, but what is life without challenges, obstacles and grit? Let the circumstances mold you, challenge you and guide you. Don’t throw in the towel too early and miss out on everything that life does have to offer. Because life has SO much to offer if you let it!
XOXO
