INFJ...

Okay, so I recently took the Enneagram test because I was curious about where I fell on the scale. I’ve never taken it before because honestly, I HATE answering questions about myself. I feel so much pressure to, “answer right” as if there’s a right answer to the person that I am. It’s confusing and exhausting.

    What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a personality system that aims to reveal how emotions drive our lives and how we engage with others in an effort to get what we want and need. The Enneagram defines nine personality types, each with its own set of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for personal growth.

Your Enneagram type reveals what motivates you on a very deep level, and illuminates the path you must take to achieve a higher level of self-actualization!”

So, I am an INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging) I’ve felt it my whole life, I just didn’t know it had a name! I took a test that I will link at the bottom of this for you all to take if you want!

There’s certain signs that you look for, characteristic traits that you notice that others around you don’t seem to struggle with. Here’s a list that you can checkout! I check each and every one of these 21 points!

The Enneagram test showed that I am a SOLID 4 on the scale. Here is what that means:

Here's a list of all 9:

(Descriptions of all 9!)

While doing research, here is what I found:

Let’s take a look now at different aspects at work in Type Four. If you need a refresher on what these terms mean, click on the linked words below.

Center: Heart/Feeling (the underlying emotion is shame)

Hornevian Group: Withdrawn

Harmonic Group: Emotional realness

Object Relation Group: Frustration

(-Heath Davis )

I have literally never felt more connected to a description of myself as I did when I did research into all of this!

Here's how you deal with a type 4:

  • Don’t discount their emotions: We are feelers, we feel things a lot more intensely than most people. Sadness and joy! Don't judge them, especially when you feel they're being particularly moody. Try and see things from their perspective (hard as it might be) try and feel their intensity, listen to them when they tell you how it feels.

  • Don't expect them to just get over things. Remember that Enneagram Fours are the rarest personality types! Let me repeat, they are NOT like you. Things that you never even notice will likely be enough to devastate their heart-centered personalities. Ask specifics, we like specificity.

  • Learn how to tell them how you're feeling! Have your emotions and share them too, we aren't mind readers (although it's a common misconception!!)

  • Understand that fours can create beauty where there is absolutely none, most others wouldn't even see it! Pay attention and express your appreciation for their artistic adventures; or the ones that they may lead you to!

Per The Enneagram Institute:

Level 4: Take an artistic, romantic orientation to life, creating a beautiful, aesthetic environment to cultivate and prolong personal feelings. Heighten reality through fantasy, passionate feelings, and the imagination.

There is SO much research that can be done on this! I am continuing to learn more and more and when I uncover new things, I am FLOORED by all of the little pieces that are connecting in my brain. The stuff that never made sense to me, the feeling of never fully fitting in. My brain feels like it might explode.

I am going to research more! If you want to find out where you are on the scale, take the test! Here's the link!
